How to Enroll and Register a Student in Pearson Access Next

“Welcome to our video tutorial demonstrating how to enroll and register a new student in PearsonAccess Next. We begin with our first step which is enrolling a student.  Select the assessment administration using the drop down menu on the top of the page.  Next, click on the drop down menu for the set up tab and select students.  Click on the drop down menu under task and check the box next to create edit students then click start.  From the drop down menu under organization select the student’s school.  Type the students 10 digit state ID, then last name followed by the student’s date of birth.  And select the gender from the drop down menu.  Next type the students 10 digit local ID, then first name and middle initial if known.  Click create, and confirm that the record has been successfully saved.   Our next step is to register that same student for the assessment test. Begin this step by confirming the correct assessment administration is selected.  Next, click on the drop down menu for the set up tab and select students.  Search for your student by clicking the drop down menu under find students and select by ignoring PARCC opts Spring PBA 2015 registrations.   Type the student’s last name and click search.  Then check the box next to the student to be registered.  Click on the drop down menu under tasks and check the box next to registration.  Then click start.  Confirm the assigned organization is correct and you have the correct student.  Click the registered students tab at the top of the page, check the box next to registered and use the drop down menu to choose the grade level at the time of assessment.  Using the drop down menus, select the student’s ethnicity and race.  Select the applicable programs for the student.  The required fills are EL, G &T, economic status, Title III limited English proficient and Migrant status.  The remaining fills may be skipped if not applicable.  Click save and confirm that the registration was successfully saved.  We will now assign a student to a test. Click manage student tests at the top of the page and confirm the assigned box is checked.  Using the drop down menus select the correct student, test, organization, assessment location if used by your district, test format and if this is a retest, assessment session test administrator, classroom ID and staff member ID may be entered if used by your district.  Moving on to assessment accommodations, check the boxes for the applicable accommodations.  Notice the section is separated by paper and online, paper only and online only.  For administration considerations and accessibility features, check the boxes which apply to this student.  Check the box next to text-to-speech if applicable to this student.  For students with an IEP or a 504 plan check the boxes and use the drop down menus to select the student’s accommodations. Next, check the boxes and use the drop down menus to select the student’s EL accommodations.  For this section type, the information in each field must be known at the time of test assignment.  If not known at this time, this section maybe updated later.  Click create and confirm that this information has successfully been saved.  You have now completed the enrollment and registration process for a new student.  Exit this task by clicking exit this task in the upper right hand corner of the page.  Thank you for taking the time to view our video.”
